Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismael visited on Monday Abu Redis city of South Sinai governorate to check on the aftermath of the fire that erupted at a U.S. oil drilling rig leased by Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel).
The minister used a helicopter to hover over the rig site about 11 kilometers off the Red Sea coast.
The oil rig caught fire earlier in the day, but no casualties were reported.
